The Raines Family was from the south. Bertha Raines the oldest child of 7 children came from Spring creek North Carolina. Bertha was raised on a mountain top. Bertha only had a 8th grade education because she had to quit school to help bring in the crops. She could ride a horse and work with a cross cut saw better than any man. Hard and Sophie Plemons were her mom and dad.

Chuck Raines was born in Dalerio Tennessee. The youngest of 6 kids, 4 brothers and 1 sister. They lived in the Cherokee Nation are around Rocky Top mountain. Chuck and Bertha was from a long line of singers who would sit on their front porches after a hard days work in the field and sing old foke songs. They had 3 boys, Danny, Bobby and Ronnie.
